Storms make the phone ring. Between storms, it goes quiet. Tree removal marketing is mostly about closing that gap: being the company people find and trust for emergency calls, and also for the planned jobs that keep your crews busy the rest of the year. This guide is part of our marketing for tree service companies resources.
Two kinds of tree removal customers
Treat these as two different customers, because they search and decide differently.
Emergency customers. A tree is on the house, across the driveway, or leaning after wind. They want someone now. They call the first business that looks real and answers the phone.
Planned customers. A dead or diseased tree, a tree too close to the house, a lot being cleared, a building project, or an insurance or HOA request. They have time to compare. They read reviews, look at photos, ask about insurance and get more than one estimate.
You need something for both.
1. Win the emergency search
For emergency searches the question is simple: can they reach you, and do you look legitimate?
- Answer the phone, or call back fast. Missed calls go to the next company.
- Be honest about availability. Only say “24/7” or “emergency service” if it is true. List your real hours on your Google Business Profile and your website.
- Make calling one tap. Put a tap-to-call number at the top of every page.
- Keep your Google Business Profile complete. “Tree service” as the primary category, your real service area, current photos and hours. See our Google Business Profile management service.
2. Win the planned job
Planned customers read before they call. Give them what they are looking for:
- A dedicated tree removal page that explains how you work, what affects the price (height, location, access, crane or bucket truck, haul-away), and which towns you serve.
- Real before-and-after photos, including tight or difficult jobs. These show skill better than any sentence.
- Clear next steps. Tell people how an estimate works, how fast you reply, and what they will need to send.
- A photo-based quote request. Let people upload one or two photos of the tree with the form. It saves a trip and lets you reply faster.
3. Show you are safe to hire
Tree work carries real risk for the customer’s property and for your crew. Say what protects them:
- Your license and insurance, where visitors can see them
- Any professional credentials your team really holds, for example an ISA Certified Arborist if you have one
- How you protect lawns, driveways, fences and utility lines
- Your company name on your trucks and in your photos
4. Reviews that mention the job
People trust reviews that describe the work, such as “removed a large oak close to the house and left the yard clean.” Ask every happy customer for a review before you leave the site, send the link by text, and answer each review politely and specifically.
5. Give removal and stump work one connected path
A tree removal quote should also offer the stump. Show tree removal and stump grinding as options on the same estimate, and link your tree removal page to your stump grinding page. It helps customers decide faster and raises the value of each job. More in our guides to stump grinding marketing and stump removal marketing.
6. Use the calendar, not just the weather
You cannot control storms, but you can plan around the year:
- Before storm season: posts and pages about inspecting trees, dead limbs and removal before problems start.
- After storms: quick updates on your Google profile about availability.
- Off-season: planned removals and lot clearing, when homeowners and builders have time.
7. Compete on trust, not only on price
You will not win every estimate on price, and you should not try to. Fast replies, clear quotes, tidy photos, visible insurance and honest reviews give people a reason to choose you even when you are not the cheapest.
What to track each month
- Calls and form requests from your Google profile and website
- How many were emergency vs planned
- Estimates sent, jobs booked, and the source of each
- New reviews received
Look at the numbers monthly and change one thing at a time.
